Fondée en 2005 par l’artiste Mamby Mawine (Patricia Gomis) et ses proches, Djarama est un centre artistique situé à 50 km de Dakar. Il dispose d’un théâtre et de terrains de sports, et réunit deux écoles élémentaires, un jardin pédagogique visant à l’auto-subsistance alimentaire et à la vente de produits locaux, et un centre de formation, Yaak’art, destiné prioritairement aux adolescents issus de la rue. Ceux-ci sont formés aux métiers du spectacle (Marionnette, danse, acrobatie), et accompagnés dans le développement d’un projet professionnel.

Tous les deux ans, Djarama organise un festival réunissant des artistes d’Afrique et des autres continents, dans les villages de Toubab Dialaw et Ndayane, ainsi qu’à Dakar, à l’Institut Français. Cette année, ce festival était le préambule d’un Symposium international pour la structuration du secteur jeune public, fruit d’une collaboration entre de très nombreux partenaires, dont Wallonie-Bruxelles International, le Tof Théâtre (Belgique), l’éditeur et spécialiste du jeune public Émile Lansman.

Founded in 2005 by artist Mamby Mawine (Patricia Gomis) and her family, Djarama is an arts centre located 50 km from Dakar. It has a theatre and sports fields, two elementary schools, an educational garden designed to promote self-sufficiency in food and the sale of local produce, and a training centre, Yaak’art, aimed primarily at teenagers from the street. They are trained in the performing arts (puppetry, dance, acrobatics), and supported in the development of their professional projects.

Every two years, Djarama organises a festival bringing together artists from Africa and other continents, in the villages of Toubab Dialaw and Ndayane, as well as in Dakar, at the Institut Français. This year, the festival was the preamble to an international symposium on structuring the young audience sector, the fruit of collaboration between a host of partners, including Wallonie-Bruxelles International, Tof Théâtre (Belgium) and Émile Lansman, the publisher and specialist in theatre for young audience.

Es verfügt über ein Theater und Sportplätze, zwei Grundschulen, einen Lehrgarten zur Selbstversorgung mit Lebensmitteln und den Verkauf von lokalen Produkten sowie ein Ausbildungszentrum, Yaak’art, das sich vor allem an Jugendliche richtet, die auf der Straße leben. Diese werden in den Bereichen Puppenspiel, Tanz und Akrobatik ausgebildet und bei der Entwicklung eines Berufsprojekts unterstützt.

Alle zwei Jahre organisiert Djarama ein Festival mit Künstlern aus Afrika und anderen Kontinenten, das in den Dörfern Toubab Dialaw und Ndayane sowie im Institut Français in Dakar stattfindet. Das diesjährige Festival bildete den Auftakt zu einem internationalen Symposium zur Strukturierung des Sektors für junges Publikum, das aus der Zusammenarbeit zahlreicher Partner entstand, darunter Wallonie-Brüssel International, das Tof Théâtre (Belgien) und der Verleger und Spezialist für junges Publikum Émile Lansman.
